It seems the flame wars continue with special interest groups. Rock the Vote (RTV) has an awards dinner planned on June 8th and the Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFP) plans to try and make their life miserable. They've even sent the RTV folks a delightful gift: A tshirt with the logo "I (heart) hypocrisy".

Rock The Vote VS. Rock the Hypocrisy

The leftist RTV group came out against the social security legislation advocate by the president and the AFP is in favor of it. AFP plans to protest RTV's opinion during their awards dinner and their calling their campaign Rock the Hypocrisy. RTV had tshirts made saying "I (heart) social security.)

"Claiming to represent the best interests of young people and then fighting every effort to give young people more control over their own money and retirement security is practically the dictionary definition of 'hypocrisy,'" said Americans for Prosperity spokesman Ed Frank. "Young Americans know that Rock the Vote doesn't speak for them, especially when it comes to their own retirement security, and they're going to make that clear at Wednesday's rally in Washington. I think these t-shirts will fit the Rock the Vote staff very well at their big dinner."

The blog by Hans Reimer at Rock the Vote's website had this to say:

"But here's the thing: our t-shirts are UNION MADE IN THE U.S.A. Supporting the American way of life.

Their shirts are MADE IN GUATEMALA. Probably in a sweatshop.

Now which group is really americans for prosperity, and which group is really a bunch of hypocrites?"

The RTV website list awards going to former President Bill Clinton, Senator John McCain, Senator Barack Obama, the musical group Black Eyed Peas and Vote Street Team Leader Sarah Saheb.

AFP's website attempts to recruit young people for the protest at the awards dinner in Washington D.C. There are a number of email post cards and such to allow one to contact one's friends to tag along to the protest.

Perhaps the best route for this shindig would be to go to the protest and then pick up tickets to the after-awards party to hook up with the Black Eyed Peas. Tickets are still available.
