Three bombs exploded in two crowded supermarkets and a convention center in Myanmar's capital.
The explosions took the lives of 11 people and left 162 wounded.
The blasts took place at western Yangon's convention center where a Thai trade fair was taking place, and at two City Mart supermarkets in northern Yangon all within 10 minutes of each other.
"Authorities are in hot pursuit of those who carried out these terrorist acts," said Myanmar state television.
The explosions are being blamed on a group of ethnic rebels. Recently, rebels bombed a store in Mandalay killing two people and 15 others.
The groups taking the blame are the Karen National Union (KNU), Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP), Shan State Army (SSA) and the exiled National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB).
A KNU spokesman reportedly denied that the group had anything to do with the blasts.
