Pope Benedict XVI invited over 4,000 journalists to the Vatican to thank them for covering the church's story.
The Pope spoke in 4 languages, "Thanks to all of you, these historically important ecclesial events have had worldwide coverage. I know how hard you have worked, far away from your homes and families for long hours and in sometimes difficult conditions. I am aware of this dedication with which you have accomplished this demanding task."
According to a GlobeAndMail article,
"The Vatican initially labeled the event a press conference - which is what John Paul II held after he was elected pope, answering journalist's questions for 40 minutes - but later declared it to be an audience. No questions were allowed and the Pope led the journalists in saying the Lord's Prayer.
The Vatican plans to hold tomorrow's installation ceremony on St. Peter's Square rather than inside St. Peter's Basilica."
The Pope's installation ceremony will be held tomorrow at St. Peter's Square.
