Two U.S. soldiers pled guilty yesterday to abusing prisoners while stationed at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
The two soldiers, from that unit that included Pfc. Lynndie England, are on trial at Fort Hood, Texas. In separate cases, Sergeant Javal Davis and SPC Roman Krol plead guilty under a deal that could result in reduced sentences.
According to Reuters:
[Sgt. Davis] stomped on the fingers and toes of hooded Iraqi inmates at Abu Ghraib prison… "Basically, [we] just rough them up a little bit, get them scared. Don't hurt them or anything like that, which I didn't do. No one was injured from what I did."
While SPC Krol's trial saw the soldier plead guilty to "mistreating Abu Ghraib detainees by pouring water on them as they crawled naked on the floor and grabbing a prisoner by throat and slapping him."
Both are expected to receive reduced sentences. Two more members of the unit in question still face trial proceedings.
