Iraqi insurgents released a video on Tuesday of an American hostage. The tape, which is being analyzed, shows American contractor Roy Hallums being held prisoner.
During the video, Hallums is sitting cross-legged on the floor at gunpoint, his captors standing behind him, saying he is being held because he works for the United States. According to Reuters,
It is not clear when the video was made.
"I have been arrested by a resistance group in Iraq," 56-year-old Hallums, dressed in civilian clothes, his beard flecked with white and his voice shaking, says on the tape.
"I'm asking for help because my life is in danger because it's been proved that I work for American forces."
The difference between this video and others like it is the group holding Hallums hostage makes no demands. This is also the first tape to surface since Hallums and his group, which worked for a Saudi Arabian food company contracted by the US, were captured on November 1, 2004.
Four members of the group have since been freed.
