Prison Escapee Eludes Police In Vacant Electronics Store

Last June Jeffrey Allen Manchester escaped from prison, only to go and live in a vacant Circuit City store, eat stolen baby food.

Apparently he shacked up in 4-by-10-foot closet decorated with posters and model toys, played basketball with a mini-ball, and watched "Spider-Man 2" on a DVD player. He even managed to route himself some water from the near by Toys "R" Us… oh yeah, he also installed a smoke detector. Talk about making yourself at home.

Manchester was only 4 years into his 45 year prison sentence for robbery when he escaped, which he did in the style of Robert Deniro in "Cape Fear"… clinging to the under-body of a pickup truck.

"I've never seen anybody so determined," said Officer Fred Allen, who spotted the hideaway Sunday. "He wasn't going to make a stupid mistake. We had to find him."

I guess the old saying is true; home is what you make of it.
