Microsoft Preps Sextet For Patch Tuesday

At least one of the six Windows updates to be released for August will be rated Critical, the highest Maximum Security rating.
Patch Tuesday will be here tomorrow, and administrators and home users will want to be ready to get their machines updated. Six Windows security updates will be disclosed in the security bulletins the company releases on the second Tuesday of each month.
Microsoft provides a basic advisory of what types of updates can be expected about a week in advance of their release. This month, at least one of those bulletins will be a Critical update, which usually means a condition for remote or arbitrary code execution exists.
The company has disclosed that the updates will require restarting a system. By announcing that in advance, Microsoft gives admins the opportunity to schedule downtime for their systems in an enterprise environment.
In addition to the security updates, Microsoft will release one high priority non-security update for Windows. Early speculation contends this update will correct an issue with the Windows Genuine Advantage check, which in its present form can allegedly be bypassed with ease by entering a line of javascript in the address bar of Internet Explorer.
