The Redmond-based software company acknowledged it is looking into a potential security issue reported by security firm eEye.

Users of Internet Explorer and Windows 2000, 2003, and XP take note: eEye has reported a remote code execution flaw to Microsoft, which has begun to research the possible problem according to eWeek.

eEye's web site lists six vulnerabilities in Microsoft products that have not yet been patched. All six, including the most recent one, could allow remote or arbitrary code execution.

Microsoft released three critical patches in July on its customary date of the second Tuesday of a month. One of those critical patches was for Internet Explorer; the others were for Word and for the Windows operating system. Microsoft could release an update before that time; eWeek noted the company has done this three times, all to deal with IE security issues.

In the wake of the CardSystems security breach, http://www.webpronews.com/news/ebusinessnews/wpn-45-20050624CardSystemsGetsFixForSecurityBreach.html>eEye was the company CardSystems chose to install a security fix for its network. A breach in CardSystems' operations may have exposed up to 40 million credit cards to unauthorized access.
