Three Microsoft patches were released to address critical flaws, and exploit code has begun circulating already.
Microsoft continued its second Tuesday of the month patch ritual by distributing three security bulletins to users of Internet Explorer, Windows, and Word.
All three patches were rated Critical by the Redmond-based software and game console company. Already, attackers were attempting to exploit the newly disclosed remote code execution vulnerabilities.
"Attackers are already using the JView Profiler flaw to download and install Trojan horses on victims' machines," said Dan Hubbard, a senior director at Websense Security Labs.
Any of the unpatched flaws could allow an attacker to take control of a remote system. Users should take steps to ensure the prompt patching of their machines. Two of those flaws relate to Windows use of imaging technology.
"Simply by viewing one of these malicious images you can become infected with anything from adware and spyware to any other suspicious code," said Oliver Friedrichs, senior manager at Symantec Corp.'s Security Response Center.
