New MyDoom Variant Pulls Addresses From Yahoo

A new MyDoom worm variant, called MyDoom.p, is using a copy-cat approach to acquiring peoples email addresses from Yahoo.

The new worm uses Yahoo's People search site to search out email addresses. This tactic was first used last week by "another" MyDoom variant, this one preyed on Google, Alta Vista, Lycos, and Yahoo, according to techweb.com.

There was nothing special about MyDoom.p, it was a pretty ordinary worm variant; it spread itself through email in hopes the computer recipient would open it.

Because of the relatively slow spread, Yahoo's people search engine wasn't affected.
