Pfizer Finds Viagra Spam Hard To Beat In Holland

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer, best known as the maker of Viagra, is warning consumers in the Netherlands to beware of Viagra spam because they state 97% of the pills sold are counterfeit.

The radio campaign is based on information from a study by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). The RIVM says these counterfeit pills are a risk to the public health. They point out there’s no oversight regarding production of these pills. This could potentially create all sorts of problems.

The Register quoted a Pfizer spokeman saying some 55% of Dutch men received the spam, 85% say they don’t like it and 46% think Pfizer actually sends out the spam. “We get a lot of phone calls from people asking us why we do this.”

Pfizer continues to battle spam, as their drug seems to be one of the most spammed around. It’s not uncommon for people in this country to receive dozens of emails every day offering some form of Viagra or one of the myriad other drugs available.
