ITSecurity.com has put out its 2007 list of the 59 most influential people in IT Security, the interesting part is that I have not heard of all but a small handful.
It is a great list of people to go and watch and pay attention to, and that is the benefit of being on such a list, but the more interesting part is that I am along with many other things, an information security gadfly.
If someone speaks publicly, or writes publicly I would like to think that I am pretty well familiar with many of the people in both Business and Academia that does information security.
The troubling part is that I have maybe read, watched, or listened to two or three people on the list. So what have I missed by not paying attention to these people?
Plenty, and adding to this list is the "Information Security Bloggers Network" out at feed burner.
Both of these are invaluable resources for people that are interested in the bleeding edge of information security, lessons, policies, plans, procedures, changing business bases, or just about everything that a well rounded information security person would need or want.

Overall going through and finding the people that resonate best with you, the ones that make sense to where you are working and what you are doing as security engineers is probably the best way to start.
Then keep everyone else on back burner and check in every occasionally to see what is happening.
The part that disappointed me the most, no academics, not one college professor, college writer, or other university anywhere in the world is on the list.
There really should be people in academia that are on the cutting edge of information security, and they might have been overlooked, but I do know excellent teachers and mentors that should be on this list because they are influencing the next generation of information security professionals.
Otherwise, these people are a good representation of information security, and should be added to your RSS reader if nothing else.
