McAfee has launched a twice-monthly podcast series about topics related to computer and Internet security, starting with a discussion of the Nordea Bank phishing incident, and information disclosure.
The new podcast goes by the name AudioParasitics. Anyone who has seen Star Trek: The Wrath Of Khan is going to think of Chekov being forced to let a brain-controlling parasite burrow into his ear when hearing the name.
Show co-hosts David Marcus, security research and communications manager, and Jim Walter, field research engineer, for McAfee Avert Labs, plan to discuss topics in-depth on the podcast:
Sometimes what we do not have time for is taking a close look at the issues and trends that drive our industry. AudioParasitics was created with this goal in mind…. to dissect the issues, drivers and trends of security.
One day we may discuss disclosure, another day zero-day trends, yet another it might be new rootkit functionality. No matter. Rest assured that AudioParasitics will be there to beat that issue into submission with its two opinionated hosts and a variety of the security industry's finest minds.
Their first show features a couple of McAfee staffers as expert guests. We're hoping they will broaden their scope to include some independent security researchers; we'll even suggest one: Joanna Rutkowska. Her Blue Pill research would make a good counterpoint to AudioParasitics motto, "Computer security's Red Pill.
