The security software company has disclosed a premium version of its SiteAdvisor web safety tool called SiteAdvisor Plus, and touted a multitude of factors of its proactive approach to protecting computer users.

McAfee may as well include a coupon for a discount off the purchase of a kitchen sink with its SiteAdvisor Plus product, scheduled to go on sale November 7th. They have added so many features to the for-pay version of the free online SiteAdvisor service that the sink could be the only omission.

The company touted SiteAdvisor Plus as the first tool that will actively shield PCs from malicious websites, whether a person tries to access them through web browsing, searches, email, or instant messaging. They also claim advanced phishing protection will protect users from those scams.

The free service currently handles some 250 million requests each day to determine if a given website is safe, dangerous, or merits caution when visiting. SiteAdvisor Plus will go beyond the online version's capacity for checking URLs, or the free download that checks search engine results for possible threats.

McAfee's Shane Keats posted about some of the new Plus features at the SiteAdvisor blog. One feature, Protected Mode, redirects a PC to a safe page whenever the user may be heading for something deemed unsafe by SiteAdvisor.

Out of the box, SiteAdvisor Plus supports IM clients from Yahoo, Windows Live, and Google Talk. AIM support is currently in development, a strange option to be missing from the product at launch considering AIM sizable 22 million userbase.

Keats wrote that "link checking support for AIM is a top short-term priority." Issues with integrating SiteAdvisor Plus with AIM meant either delaying the launch or sending it out with AIM support to be added later.

Likewise, SiteAdvisor Plus only supports the Internet Explorer browser. Keats noted adding support for the Firefox browser would also be a top priority along with AIM link checking.

McAfee will price a single PC license at $24.99 and a three-computer household pack for $49.99.
