Jay Lyman over at LinuxInsider has an interesting article on security concerns with the AJAX development technique.
As the popularity of AJAX continues to grow with "Web 2.0" applications, developers and companies seem to be rushing to get these things out. And as is the focus of Mr. Lyman's article, perhaps security isn't getting quite the attention that it should be getting. Jay writes:One of the issues that came up at the AjaxWorld Conference is the supposed ability to sidestep security measures such as intrusion detection systems (IDS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). There are fears that so-called "rich application clients" connected to network servers may introduce new security holes.
To make security matters worse, there is no way to prevent hot, new Web 2.0 applications from becoming popular and proliferating -- along with their security risks, IT-Harvest Chief Research Analyst Richard Stiennon told LinuxInsider. A recent report from Finjan also discusses AJAX and Web 2.0 security problems.
