For the second time this year (the first was in March), the official Google blog fell victim to someone taking advantage of Blogger to make them look stupid.

The first time, Google deleted its own blog and watched as a quick-thinker claimed it for himself. This time, someone hacked their way in there and wrote a strange post about Google's Click-to-call.

Google Click-to-Call project cancelled

After concientiously considering, Google has decided not to continue with Google Click-to-call project. The project has been in the media on last days because of the notice of Google agreement with e-Bay. We finally consider click-to-call agreement with e-Bay a monopolistic aproach that would damage small companies in the CRM area.

This message has been translated using Google language tools.
The obvious culprit is someone who is afraid of competing with Google. Google deleted the post and explained what happened in a post of their own:
About that fake post

A bug in Blogger enabled an unauthorized user to make a fake post on the Google Blog last night, claiming that we've discontinued our AdWords click-to-call test. The bug was fixed quickly and the post removed. As for the click-to-call test, it is progressing on schedule, and we're pleased with the results thus far.
Why does this sort of thing happen? One theory is that it is because Google has a central corporate blog. While many Google products have their own blogs, everyone knows the Google Blog is the place to be. It holds a high spot on the Technorati 100. Meanwhile, Microsoft has hundreds of official employee blogs, all of which are equally important, and no central blog, which leaves them mostly safe. Google watchers read the official blog, knowing the the few news items it posts are what you should be paying attention to, while Microsoft watchers subscribe to the MSDN blog feed, which pushes through 500 news items a day, all of which might be (but often are not) important.

In other words, Google has made a pretty sweet target as the biggest corporate blog, so this stuff is practically inevitable.
