A company called Remote XT has launched a product with the same name in Britain.

The product is a mobile service designed for smart phones that causes a phone to let out a loud "scream", when it is reported stolen. More importantly, access to any data on the phone is blocked.

Remote XT plans to put a stop to mobile phone theft, particularly for those with important data (such as business users). Reuters reports:
Until now network providers were able to disable stolen phones from being used but could not necessarily provide data from being accessed.

The software, which backs up any wiped data, can also be used to scan for viruses, as the latest generation of phones increasingly has capabilities similar to those offered on laptop computers.
The service will cost users 9.99 pounds a month. The question is, how much is your data worth?
