The time has approached for Sophos to release it's monthly lists of the most prevalent malware threats and hoaxes, these being for the month of September.
Sophos revealed the lists yesterday, and they show that the number of new threats in September have doubled, though there were no new malware entries in the top ten for the month.
The top ten malware list looks like this:
1 W32/Netsky-P
2 W32/Mytob-AS
3 W32/Bagle-Zip
4 W32/Nyxem-D
5 W32/Netsky-D
6 W32/Mytob-E
7 W32/Mytob-C
8 W32/Zafi-B
8 W32/MyDoom-O
10 Re-entry W32/MyDoom-AJ
Please note that the two number Eights are not a mistake, but in fact a tie at 2.8% of reports.
The top ten hoax list goes:
1 Olympic torch
2 Hotmail hoax
3 WTC Survivor
4 Bonsai kitten
5 MSN is closing down
6 Bill Gates fortune
7 Meninas da Playboy
8 Justice for Jamie
