August is over and Sophos has posted its monthly list of top malware threats and hoaxes for the month.
The top four didn't change too much and there were no new entries, but there was one re-entry: the Mytob-E worm, which was absent from the list since May of last year.
The top ten malware list was as follows:
1. W32/Netsky-P
2. W32/Mytob-AS
3. W32/Bagle-Zip
4. W32/Nyxem-D
5. W32/Netsky-D
6. W32/Mytob-C
7. W32/Mytob-E
8. W32/MyDoom-O
9. W32/Zafi-B
10. W32/Mytob-FO
The top ten hoax list goes:
1. Olympic torch
2. Hotmail hoax
3. Bonsai kitten
4. Budweiser frogs screensaver
5. Meninas da Playboy
6. MSN is closing down
7. Bill Gates fortune
8. Justice for Jamie
9. A virtual card for you
10. Mobile phone hoax
