This new phishing mail pretending to come from eBay, pushes the envelope real far in convincing you to click on a link and to make you give away your confidential account information.

At a time when even the most susceptible user is becoming cautious against attempts of email fraud, this one poses to educate you on how scamsters con you with spoof emails, before leading you the beaten path in directing to click on a link to open an imposter login screen!

Security experts at MicroWorld Technologies inform that the scam mail in question tells users their accounts have been suspended after being compromised by suspected online thieves and prompts them to key in their user information in a form, in order to revoke the same. Once the confidential information is entered in the website given, it will be sent directly to those behind the scam.

Sulabh Mahant, Security Analyst, MicroWorld Technologies, observes "This mail is written in a very professional manner to make even the well-informed user wonder for a fleeting moment, whether all that it says is actually true. It talks to you about online fraud and the need to protect your password while handling stuff over the Internet. The link looks authentic while the mail even goes about explaining how some pop-up blockers might prevent users from accessing the form and gives you tips to circumvent it!"

eBay's tryst with Phishing goes a weary long way. As one of the most widely targeted websites by criminal gangs, there have been innumerable attempts to wriggle into eBay user accounts and empty their wallets using a varied range of methods and mechanisms.

To fight malicious mails like these, MicroWorld incorporates continuously evolving technologies that perform futuristic Phishing Protection and Spam Control in their Security products eScan and MailScan. To advance its crusade against unsolicited emails, the firm has developed a dedicated spam filtering software named X-Spam. Besides consistently innovating its Content Security technologies, MicroWorld also provides timely alerts to users on major online scams and fraudulent email campaigns.

"One knows that phishing has come of age and has already metamorphosed into techniques like pharming, where DNS poisoning is employed in redirecting users towards fake websites. Though this eBay mail might be a retro sample in that sense, it's intriguing to see the lengths con artists can go to script something really believable. The fact is that every aspect of online crime is trying hard to better itself and what matters is how much your protective gear matches strides with it," points out Govind Rammurthy, CEO MicroWorld Technologies.
