McAfee has selected Sensory Networks's NodalCore acceleration technology to power its Secure Web Gateway (SWG) products.
With this technology, the Secure Web Gateway appliances can scan Internet traffic for viruses and spyware at much fasters speeds than before.
"Our partnership with Sensory Networks helps McAfee to solve the issue of web security appliances not being able to keep up with increasing network speeds," said McAfee Group Product Marketing Manager Jack Marsal. According to a press release:
Sensory Networks' hardware acceleration technology increases the performance of all types of security applications, such as anti-virus, anti-spam, content filtering, firewall and intrusion detection systems.
Acting as the performance engine, Sensory Networks' NodalCore technology enables security vendors to concentrate on their core competencies and compete on features, knowing that their applications will continue to run at wire speed. Sensory Networks partners with best-of-breed security application providers and security appliance vendors, revolutionizing the way security appliances are developed.
"Unlike other security platforms that drop packets or reduce the number of viruses they are searching for in order to run faster, Sensory's NodalCore high-speed engine enables McAfee's Secure Web Gateway appliances to scan network traffic for web-borne threats at wire speed without sacrificing accuracy or coverage," says Sensory Networks CEO Matt Barrie.
