Symantec has launched its "Executive Customer Advisory Council", which consists of a group of CIOs and other IT execs from different global customers.
Symantec's goal with the council is to get deeper insight and guidance towards the company's strategic plans.
"It gives our customers a significant voice in guiding the kind of innovation they are relying on to protect their infrastructure, information, and interactions," says Symantec CEO John W. Thompson of the council.
The following is Symantec's description of the council:The Council was formed to help meet the complex needs of Symantec's current customer base and to provide analysis and ongoing validation of the plans that are essential to achieving Symantec's business goals. Council members analyze the impacts of new technologies and services and assist in identifying early opportunities for Symantec. They will also help guide the direction of existing solutions by providing feedback that reflects the evolution of the security and availability markets and the changing realities of the customers' business environments.
In addition, the Council provides an opportunity to create meaningful and strategic partnerships between Symantec and its large enterprise customers. Council members are encouraged to pose challenging questions to the Symantec team and to expect candid, objective dialogue attuning the company's vision toward the needs and challenges customers face. Symantec customers that have been involved with the council include: AG Edwards & Sons, Banca Intesa, Chevron, The First American Corporation, Intuit, QUALCOMM, Samsung SDS, and Tata Consultancy Services. Symantec says it plans to recruit new members of the council for two-year terms.
