A new form of malware has come to light. It is written in Windows PowerShell script, and its name is Cibyz.
Well, it isn't entirely new. It was created by the same Austrian virus writers who previous developed so-called "proof of concept malware" targeting Microsoft Command Shell (MSH) technology according to Channel Register.
Graeme Wearden of ZDNet UK reports:
Security firm McAfee warned this week that it had detected the worm, called MSH/Cibyz.
MSH/Cibyz is designed to spread using the Kazaa file-sharing network, and the worm runs in PowerShell, which is due to ship in the second half of this year. PowerShell will underpin future Microsoft products such as Exchange Server 2007.
It is rather interesting that this worm was designed for Kazaa, now that Kazaa has "gone legitimate".
Certainly the virus writers will have enough class to go after users of "illegitimate" file-sharing netowrks too.
