Symantec CTO Ajei Gopal has left the company after two years to become CA's senior vice president and general manager of its Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) business unit.
Mark Bergman, who was Symantec's CTO before Gopal took over, will resume the role. Alan F. Nugent, whom Gopal is replacing, is now the CTO at CA.
There have been a lot of changes going on in the Symantec offices lately. Red Herring writes:In February, Symantec swapped its chief information officer, tapping into former Oracle executive David Thompson to replace then-executive Mark Egan.
A week before that, the company said its president and vice chairman, Gary Bloom, would leave before the end of March. In November, Symantec CFO Greg Myers left, a few months after former President and COO John Schwarz. Mr. Schwarz is now the chief of business intelligence company Business Objects. Nevertheless, CA seems genuinely happy to get Gopal.
"His business experience and effectiveness in leading corporate R&D initiatives will be particularly valuable as CA continues to deliver on its vision for Enterprise IT Management," says Russell M. Artzt, CA's executive vice president of products.
Gopal is fired up himself. "I am extremely excited about joining CA and assuming the hands-on operational responsibilities for one of the Company's most dynamic business units," he said.
