Symantec has introduced Symantec Backup Exec, which features Symantec LiveState Recovery functionality and makes it easier to deploy.

Designed for Windows OS protection, Backup Exec is meant to quickly restore failed IT systems in the event of a disaster.

"Small and mid-sized organizations are looking for server recovery solutions that are both cost-effective and easy-to-use," says Enterprise Strategy Group analyst Brian Babineau.

"The inclusion of hardware-independent restore, lights out system recovery, and flexible deployment capabilities in a single solution represents a highly usable system protection tool for these businesses," he added.

Backup Exec System Recovery is available in these forms:

- Backup Exec System Recovery, Server Edition (MSRP $1095 USD per server)

- Backup Exec System Recovery, Windows® Small Business Server Edition (MSRP $595 USD per server)

- Backup Exec System Recovery, Desktop Edition (MSRP $69 USD per desktop)
