At Symantec Vision Government 2006 today, Symantec announced the availability of its Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0 family.
The company also released Veritas Cluster Server 5.0 made for application and database downtime reduction.
"With Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0, enterprises for the first time have centralized visibility and control across their multi-platform server, storage, and application environments," says Rob Soderbery, senior vice president of Symantec's Storage Foundation Group.
"This release is a game-changer in helping our customers manage and optimize their data centers," Soderbery added.
Storage Foundation Management Server is a new part of Veritas Storage Foundation and allows for centralized multi-host management capabilities across UNIX, Linux, and Windows.
According to Symantec, "It provides data center-wide visibility by collecting real-time data from hundreds of Storage Foundation hosts, correlating that data to specific applications, and monitoring the entire environment."
The products can be downloaded at Symantec's site. A support subscription for Veritas Storage Foundation Basic is optional for $98 per processor. More details about the releases can be found in this press release.
