Guarding sensitive data has become top priority among IT professionals, replacing concerns about malware, according to a recent study sponsored by Apani Networks.
The key findings of the survey, conducted by Inforsurv Market Research, showed "securing the enterprise is getting harder" and that IT professionals are keeping a steady bead on potential data theft.
Concern for data theft was most prevalent in the minds of the 591 respondents to the survey, which centered on areas of data protection, security policies, network segmentation, de-perimiterization, IT security implementation and attack profiles. Over 70 percent listed heightened levels of concern about data theft.
After general data security, respondents voiced concerns about insiders looking to rip off their company. Thirty-eight percent said they had experienced an insider attack during the past 12 months.
Seventy-five percent were agreed that perimeters were becoming more porous. Eighty percent agreed that securing the enterprise is becoming a more daunting task than in years past.
Though they have deep concerns, the survey also revealed as much as 43 percent of IT professionals didn't know what they needed to bring their systems up to code.
