McAfee has made enhancements to its Secure Messaging Gateway and McAfee Secure Internet Gateway appliances.
Among these enhancements are e-mail regulatory compliance and encryption and new anti-spam capabilities. McAfee explains more about the appliances:
The e-mail compliance module scans e-mail headers, body and attachments for a wide variety of personal information and/or financial information such as drivers' license number, social security number, credit card numbers and bank account data. Rather than simply looking for messages containing these terms, the e-mail compliance module intelligently selects only those messages which contain a combination of personal information.
Once it has been determined that a message contains private information, the McAfee appliance takes appropriate actions such as blocking the message or sending the message to a third party encryption product for secure delivery...The e-mail compliance module integrates with encryption solutions from a wide variety of vendors in order to re-route messages that contain protected information.
Aside from that, McAfee Secure Messaging Gateway and McAfee Secure Internet Gateway appliances offer Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption to ensure privacy.
McAfee also added an IP reputation filter to its anti-spam application, so when a message from an IP address marked as "bad" is found, it is immediately rejected.
McAfee Secure Messaging Gateway and Secure Internet Gateway appliances are currently available.
