McAfee announced that using its Avert Labs' research expertise and Organization for Internet Safety (OIS) guidelines, it will work closely with vendors affected by vulnerability discoveries.

This is so McAfee can immediately begin working on coming up with solutions for these vulnerabilities in an effort to protect customers from "targeted exploits before they become serious problems".

"Last month alone, McAfee publicly disclosed 24 vulnerabilities, one relating to Microsoft and 23 built into nine patches on the Apple operating system," said Stuart McClure, senior vice president, global research and threats at McAfee.

"While this number may sound significant, it doesn't touch the number of vulnerabilities that are never discovered or properly disclosed," continued McClure. "Our goal is to help the public address new, fast-moving threats that cannot be dealt with adequately by patching and other traditional reactive means."

McAfee also announced enhancements to its Global Support Lab with key benefits including:

* Demonstrations and Evaluations On Demand -- Online and accessible worldwide, The Global Support Lab enables resellers to easily demonstrate all of McAfee's latest products to customers from any location within a safe lab environment -- without having to maintain an inventory of demonstration hardware and software or to ship it to customer sites. It is easy to access and there is no charge for using the On-Demand services.

* Custom Configurations -- The Global Support Lab can also replicate customer environments for pre-deployment testing or unique evaluation requirements.

* Increased Revenue Opportunities -- The ability to quickly and easily switch between product demonstrations allows partners to show customers the benefits of other products they may be interested in. Additionally, customer registration and use information is sent to the partner to inform them of a customer's interest in a product, providing sales and up-sell opportunities.

* McAfee Training -- Partners can quickly provide hands-on access to the latest McAfee products for new hires and customers, while video tutorials provide simple how-to guides on the capabilities and correct installation of those products.
