12 security flaws will be patched by Microsoft tomorrow on Patch Tuesday including 9 Windows flaws, 2 Office flaws, and 1 Exchange Server flaw.
Microsoft will NOT however issue patches for Windows 98 and ME, claiming the task is unfeasible at this point.Fixing the issue on Windows 98 and ME would require a complete overhaul of critical operating system components, he [Christopher Budd]explained, which could cause application compatibility issues.
Users can protect themselves against attacks by blocking all traffic on TCP Port 139 through a perimeter firewall, Microsoft suggested. Windows uses port 139 for file and printer sharing. Some of the flaws that Microsoft will be fixing are rated "critical", so get the patches and restart your computer!
