Check Point's Zone Labs has released an update to its ZoneAlarm security suite - ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6.5.
The update is not considered a full upgrade, hence the ".5", but does include significant features such as "game mode" so gamers aren't bothered by alerts during gameplay. It also contains new identity protection and anti-spyware features. PC Mag reports:The product now tracks more distinct spyware threats, gets signature updates more frequently, and includes a new Spy Site Blocking feature to prevent access (accidental or malicious) to known spyware sites. And the developers keep working to make the high-powered firewall even better.
Laura Yecies, general manager of Zone Labs and vice president at parent company Check Point, notes that "Internet security is no longer only about protecting your PC; it's about protecting you." To combat the very real danger of identity theft, Zone Labs developed the Identity Protection Center. ZASS users can visit this Web site to take advantage of free services or sign up for paid services with partner companies. You can stop the stream of credit card offers arriving in your mailbox, for example, or sign up for a service that monitors black-hat sites in case your credit card number shows up. Knowledge is power, so the site offers plenty of information to help you avoid (or recover from) identity theft. Some of the services are available elsewhere; others are exclusives for ZASS users. One favorable aspect of ZoneAlarm's support services, as CNET points out, is that while their phone support may be expensive, the online forums are always there with people willing to help solve problems.
