Lucent Technologies announced its new firewall and VPN security portfolio today at the Gartner Security Summit in Washington D.C.
The package is called the VPN Firewall Brick 50 IP services platform, and it is aimed at the small to medium enterprise. Lucent says:
In a compact chassis, Lucent's Brick 50 delivers integrated high-speed firewall functionality, quality of service bandwidth optimization, site-to- site and remote access virtual private network services, virtual LAN (VLAN) and virtual firewall capabilities, and a powerful IPSec software client for remote users. The solution also features robust protection against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks through SYN flood protection, intelligent cache management, and strict TCP and IP packet validation.
The new device, as with all Lucent firewall systems, runs on a Bell Labs- developed secure operating system and can be centrally administered using the Lucent Security Management Server management tool.
"This device is designed to provide network managers with a cost-effective solution enabled by a best- in-class security appliance that stretches an enterprise's investment dollars through both immediate cost savings and advanced features that streamline ongoing operational and management costs," says Carlos Solari, head of Lucent's corporate security strategy team.
The VPN Firewall Brick 50 is priced at $895 and can be purchased through Lucent itself or through authorized resellers.
