Secure CMS developer Kaspersky Lab has debuted two new products for the consumer and SOHO markets - Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.
Among new features to KIS is a personal firewall that allows mobile users to define different operating modes for different types of networks, such as Internet, intranet, and trusted networks.
Also included is a "stealth" mode, which naturally makes it invisible on the network, and a new advanced antispam system with intuitive algorithms for analyzing emails. Kaspersky explains, The self-learning Bayes algorithm in KIS adapts itself to the specific mail traffic of each individual user, minimizing the Internet traffic that is needed to update the antispam database.
The antispam function also recognizes graphic elements used in spam, and a mail dispatcher helps to decrease traffic by previewing the headers of all incoming emails without downloading messages from the mail server. Updates for the antispam system are released as often as every 20 minutes.
A nice feature of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 is that it detects the drain of system resources from other applications and suspends its own operations to free them up.
KIS 6.0 is available for $79.95, and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 is costs $59.95.
