According to the Canadian press, IBM is spending $43 million on expanding its security operation center in Toronto.
The money will also be used to increase the size of the company's Canadian security and ID staff. Canada.com reports:A lot of small and mid-sized customers that are focused on securing their network perimeter, whereas some of the larger customers have already done that and are now working to secure their internal organization, she said.
In addition to the national security and identity practice, there are several hundred other IBM people in Canada help provide support on security issues. Worldwide, IBM has more than 3,000 people in its information security and identity practice. It's not going to be a Day 1 investment because we recognize a different maturity level among customers in terms of what they're looking for," says head of IBM Canada's security, identity and privacy practice, Nicole Stampatori.
