Symantec has launched the Symantec Phish Report Network, a relaunch of a service that was previously sponsored by WholeSecurity, who is now owned by Symantec.
The Symantec Phish Report Network offers access to a database of known phishing sites as well as reports on new attacks.
Members including AOL, RSA Security, eBay (including PayPal), and Wells Fargo, contribute URLs they have identified as fraudulent Web sites to the network.
The URLs are then passed on to other partners such as Google, Yahoo, and Netscape so they can use the data as part of their services and issue the proper alerts, or filter access to the URLs.
Data from over 100 financial institutions including Visa is provided to the network courtesy of partner RSA security, whose anti-fraud services the institutions are part of.
