Hewlett-Packard is recalling nearly 16,000 notebook batteries for being potential fire-hazards.

There have been reports of the batteries overheating and burning according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

This is just one of several similar notebook battery recalls to happen in recent memory, including ones from Apple, Dell, and about six months ago HP itself.

The ones in this particular recall have barcode numbers that begin with "L3", and are found in many HP and Compaq notebooks. Not all "L3" batteries are defective however.

Those concerned about whether or not they are affected, are advised to get more information from HP.
