David Colvin of Michigan, founder of z4 Technologies won $115 million from Microsoft and $18 million from Autodesk in an anti-piracy patent suit.
Colvin, who sued the two companies, claimed that his patents were used in Autodesk's AutoCad programs and Microsoft's Office and Windows XP.
Microsoft claims that it had developed the technology well before z4 Technologies ever filed for its patent.
The jury wasn't convinced, however, but Microsoft's claim that z4 knowingly withheld information regarding Microsoft's techonology has not yet been ruled upon.
According to Reuters, a spokeswoman for Microsoft says that the company is "awaiting resolution of all issues by the trial court before making any further decisions regarding its next steps."
