Today, Novell announced that it has bought e-Security, makers of the Sentinel 5 real-time security monitoring software.
The acquisition puts together Novell's identity and systems management expertise with e-Security's real-time event monitoring, response and reporting capabilities.
"With the acquisition of e-Security, Novell is the only vendor with the potential to proactively address business needs for a real-time, comprehensive compliance solution that integrates people, systems and processes," says IDC vice president of security products and services Chris Christiansen.
Novell paid $72 million for e-Security, and anticipates a positive revenue impact from the acquisition of about $20 million over the next year.
Sentinel 5 will be available from Novell beginning next month, with a new version due out in the summer.
