Symantec's DeepSight Alert service was chosen the "Best of the Tests" by Network World in the security management category. Symantec's early warning service came out on top in a competitive review in which Network World editors evaluated a broad range of security management technologies and vendors.
"Symantec is honored that Symantec DeepSight Alert Services was recognized by Network World as the premiere solution in such a broad and rigorous comparative review," said Arthur Wong, vice president, Symantec Security Response and Managed Security Services.
Symantec DeepSight Alert Services provides personalized vulnerability, malicious code, and new spyware and adware alerts, along with mitigation information and links to security patches.
Network World editors tested more than 200 products during a one-year period across a broad range of technologies for the "Best of the Tests" award. In addition to Symantec DeepSight Alert Services, two other Symantec products were also recognized by Network World.
Symantec Backup Exec 10d, designed for disk for data protection of Windows servers, was chosen by Network World as a category-breaking product that "raises the bar." Symantec Mail Security 8100 Series was named a finalist in the Best Messaging Product category.
