Microsoft's just completed their third BlueHat conference and they've created a blog, called "BlueHat Security Briefings," to discuss topics from the conference as well as get thoughts and ideas from those attending. The blog will also include a lot of information from Channel 9 and other Microsoft venues for purposes of their Blue Hat conferences.

Their "About" section says:

BlueHat is an internal Microsoft event, where Microsoft employees and executives have an opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with top security researchers from around the world to better protect computer users from security threats. The most recent Microsoft BlueHat event took place on March 8-10, 2006. The next BlueHat event is scheduled for fall 2006.

BlueHat organizers post on this blog, and our BlueHat speakers/guests are welcome and encouraged to post comments! Comments are moderated to minimize spam and blatant flamebaiting, but no content editing will be done.

It looks like the blog is going to cover a pretty wide variety of security issues. One of the first posts was put up by one of their SQL guys, Brad Sarsfield. He works pretty extensively with SQL server security issues.

Most of the information discussed, for the moment, will come from the BlueHat conferences, specifically the third one. According to Sarsfield's post, they discussed a lot of issues:

On the first day, putting around 40 highly technical senior level engineers, architects and executives in a room for a few hours with some of the top security researches in the world was an amazing sight, oh and we did it twice that day (March 8th). It was open and honest discussion about problems specific to Microsoft technologies and also problems that affect our entire industry.

At this point, it will be interesting to see how Microsoft does with this blog. They've much improved their public image in recent years and this will certainly further their status in the community as assistance becomes even more forthcoming.
