Most features here regard cyber security and various issues surrounding it. This story is a story of a security breach not in the security world but at a security facility in Kent, UK. The heist, carried out during the cold early morning of February 22nd, hit a total of ₤53 million or $92 million, making it the largest cash robbery in British history.
On Monday, five men were arrested after a classic crook and chase since the caper occurred. This heist was chock full of action with kidnappings, shot-up cars and house raids. Security firm Securitas even laid out a ₤2 million reward for information about the robbery.
The BBC laid out the course of events starting with the heist last Wednesday. The heist happened early on Wednesday morning. The CCTV recording were released on Thursday and that evening, the first three arrests were made. Vehicles believed to be involved in the robbery were also found on Thursday.
With so much concentration being aimed at cyber security and people losing money through fraud, it's interesting to see a good old-fashioned bank robbery. While the potential for physical harm is always great in robberies like this, there's something more intriguing in many ways. While the British authorities are hot on the trail of the suspects and a number of people have already been arrested, the chase continues on.
