The EDUCAUSE/ Internet2 Computer and Network Security Taskforce (NSTF) along with the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) sponsored a video contest in order to teach people the dangers involved in cyber security.
Entries included 62 videos from 17 different universities. Criteria for judging included creativity, content, quality of information, overall effectiveness of delivery and technical quality. The categories were "Broad Topic" and "Single Topic." The winners in each category received cash prices: gold winners got $1,000 each, silver received $800 each and bronze got $500 each.
"The prevention of computer-related security problems is a critical issue for institutions of higher education. Students are particularly prone to cybersecurity risks. We believe that the videos that were produced as part of this contest will go a long way towards educating students about how to improve the security of their computers, use the Internet safely, and will enhance their overall academic experience," said Rodney Petersen, Security Task Force coordinator with EDUCAUSE.
While the winners were announced on January 19th, the winning entries as well as honorable mentions are available for viewing on the Internet.
