Political columnist and blogger Michelle Malkin was the victim of denial of service (DoS) attack on Thursday after Turkish hackers knocked her site down. While the blog is back up and running, the problem of cyber attacks is still there.
Malkin, known as conservative political pundit, had her site down most of Thursday morning. Malkin hadn't gotten back to SecurityProNews by post time. She had commented on here blog:
Dear readers:
Yes, I know the site has been down all morning.
Yes, I've contacted the FBI.
I will try to get back to work, but this has been a bit of a distraction.
Thanks for sticking with me.

Afternoon update: Confirmed DoS attack, with most of the IP addresses belonging to TurkTelecom. Tech people say the attack is shifting to different source addresses. Loading is spotty and slow. Big headache, but we're working on a more permanent solution. Thanks again for your readership.
The attacks come as no surprise as jyhadi hackers have been running rampant, attacking sites that chose to run the Danish political cartoons featuring derogatory images of Mohammed. As has been reported in SecurityProNews over the last few days, these hackers have been attacking literally thousands of websites in retaliation. Some sites, like Beetlejuice.dk eventually removed some material the hackers considered derogatory after they were attacked as early as yesterday.
Malkin had chosen the run the images and eventually the attack came. While many sites were defaced, Malkin got a rougher treatment, dealing with a denial of service attack. Right now Malkin's blog is ranked 9th on Technorati as far blogs go which means she already gets thousands of visitors a day.
One can expect more and more of these attacks to occur as the jyhadi attacks become bolder in their assaults. Logically however, this form of assault makes perfect sense. There's generally very little chance of arrest and for that matter very little chance of even being traced. In today's world, the regular cyber criminals just stealing money are rarely caught. It's fair to say these jyhadi hackers probably have the some expectations.
