Security software company BitDefender recently held a contest called "Crash and Win," inviting Linux junkies to take a shot at their beta version of Mail Protection for Enterprises product. While obviously a promotional ploy, it's definitely cool as first prize was a road trip to Transylvania (Romania) and 1,024 German beers to enjoy on the way.
The lucky bloke, Dino Dragovic hails from Osijek, Croatia and will get to tour locales in Romania attached the legend of Count Dracula, hook up with BitDefender development folks and other local luminaries. He also picked up an iPod kit with the docking station as well.
Second place wentto Ben Galliart and Andreas Roedl of the U.S. and they both got iPod kits with docking stations. Third place went to Siao Tan of Malaysia and Karl Lattimer of the U.S. also picked up iPods.
"We are very pleased with the results of the Crash and Win Contest," said Alexandru Balan, product manager for BitDefender's UNIX based security solutions. "By opening up the testing process to the general public, we have prepared BitDefender Mail Protection for Enterprises to take on the most demanding security threats so that we can provide our customers with the most powerful mail protection software available today. Expect more contests like this one from BitDefender in the future; not only is it fun, but it bodes well for our customers and our future cooperation with the open source community at large."
Fortunately for Dragovic, if he runs into any vampires, his blood should be to thin from the beer to provide the vampires any real sustenance.
