Security software giant Symantec picked up a new hire with some import. The new hire, David Thompson, comes directly from the database dudes at Oracle as their CIO. Now he'll do the CIO thing for the kids at Symantec.
On Tuesday, Symantec did their quarterly earnings report via conference call and announced a little added bonus. Symantec CEO John Thompson announced they snagged Oracle CIO David Thompson. He'll be replacing Mark Egan, who'll hang around through the summer to finish up all the Veritas IT leftovers.
Some may recognize David Thompson's name as joined on with Oracle when the company bought PeopleSoft.
Symantec's had a number of other major changes in the corporate leadership recently. Company president Gary Bloom took off last week. The Co-President left to run Business objects. Also consider CFO Greg Myers who retired. It's kept them hopping.
