The Federal Trade Commission convinced a federal judge to issue a restraining order in January against three people accused of spamming according to a statement from the FTC on Tuesday.
The three individuals owned and operated a company they called Net Everyone. The FTC charged William Dugger, aka Billy Johnson, Angela Johnson, both of Hawaii and John Vitale of Arizona with violating the Adult Labeling Rule and the CA-SPAM Act.
According to the report, emails were sent out through PCs as zombies and were loaded up malware like viruses and then the regular naughty things occurred.
The FTC said they were going to force the individuals to give up all monies and planned on barring the group from continuing their pattern of behavior.
This is a good move for the FTC. They've nailed a few of these spammers lately. But there are certainly bigger fish to fry in this spamming world and with any luck they will be getting to it shortly.
