NetClarity announced today that it has filed a patent application for "preemptive, proactive protection of networks using non-traditional and untapped RSS and XML sources".

This would include Open Vulnerability Assessment Language (OVAL), which is considered an international standard managed by MITRE and funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the company said.

The patent application itself, carries the title "Proactive Network Security using Really Simple Syndication (RSS) Feeds".

"By leveraging the RSS model to improve real-time communications in a machine readable format, we will be tying in various aspects of network security threat and vulnerability analysis that don't yet work together very well," said NetClarity Founder and CTO Gary S. Miliefsky.

It sounds like NetClarity plans to revolutionize network security with this patent. You may want to keep an eye out for these guys.
