Security Innovation has announced the formation of a group called the Application Security Industry Consortium (AppSIC).

Included in the consortium are what Security Innovation calls world-renowned industry technologists and leaders. The AppSIC's goal is to establish guidance and metrics for cross-industry application security.

AppSIC aims to translate security practices and activities throughout the development lifecycle into ROI.

"AppSIC will focus on developing evaluation methodologies that make application security relevant to business and technology decisions," says consortium chair Herbert Thompson, Ph.D.

The consortium is made up of members from such organizations as Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, Gartner, Inc., IDC, ING, Compuware, etc.

Check out this press release for more on the consortium.
