There's generally not too much in the way of silliness and fun regarding Internet security, identity fraud and cybercrime in general. Once in a blue moon, some creeps up though and there's a need to mention it. This time, it's the "hottest ladies in the security industry for 2005."
The folks at the SecurityForumX have hosted a number of photos, 16 to be exact, of the hottest ladies in well… sort of Internet security. Actually, it was a spoof but it's all in good fun. One of the sysops at the forum got a little bored over the weekend and decided to put something together. After spending hours sifting through Internet images, he found 16 that were Christmassy and weren't x-rated.
"Now... the most difficult part of the adventure was to try to track down some Christmas pictures of lovely ladies... who were NOT X-RATED. And that proved to be the hardest part of the plan. After all, I did not want to offend our female viewership or put anything on the web page that was beyond generally accepted standards of acceptability. I believe I must have visited six image search engines and waded through approximately 10,000 pictures brought up with various keyword searches to arrive at the sixteen that were chosen."
Each of the ladies has a photo and a description to go with it. The description is fictitious in nature. He emphasized the pictures were not associate with the companies in question.
"So all this is to say that unfortunately these ladies have little or nothing to do with security or the companies to which we allege they are employed with. The ladies simply met the search criteria that I had set for this Girls of Security web page..."
In discussing this through emails, he did seem hopeful someone would put a real calendar of sorts together of lovely ladies in the Internet security business. At the very least it might do something to dispel the notion computer security people are a bunch geeky looking guys.
"And the funny part is that I am pretty sure that within our industry we do
have enough lovely ladies who could probably give those pictures a good run for their money.
"After all, most folks look at the security world as being a domain mainly
inhabited by men. Maybe the female population does need something similar to this to let prospective female security pros know that they would not be alone in this industry."
It's doubtful at this point there will be a "Hot Cyber Security Babe" calendar. In any event, enjoy what's there. It might tide you over until they come out with the "Hot St. Paddy's Day Cyber Security Girls" calendar. So, anyone know any women in cyber security who want to be in calendar?
