Two men from Britain have each received short jail terms for their role in helping spread the TK worm around the globe.
Andrew Harvey got three months and Jordan Bradley got six months in jail for their roles in creating and spreading the TK worm sometime prior to February 2003.
Several sources noted how the court decided that their efforts were aimed at getting power over machines and not financial gain.
The worm infected thousands of computers worldwide, Reuters UK reported, and British National Hi-Tech Crime Unit officers estimated financial damage in the millions.
After infecting machines, the worm could enable remote control of them by the worm's creators.
The arrests came as part of a joint effort between British and US investigators. The worm reportedly affected Department of Defense computers.
In June, an Indiana man, Raymond Steigerwalt, received a 21-month jail sentence for his role in the worm's spread and ordered to repay the DoD $12,000 in restitution.
